The RoleOur client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Technical Lead to support mission-critical cyber and network operations within the Department of War and Intelligence Community. In this role you will design, build, and optimize data pipelines that transform complex, high-volume data into actionable intelligence supporting national security efforts.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines and data ingestion frameworks.
- Build and optimize data pipelines using Kafka, NiFi, and AWS services (S3, SQS).
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure data quality, performance, and reliability of processing workflows.
- Write unit and integration tests for Java code and verify accuracy of data transformations.
- Document data pipelines, architecture, and operational procedures.
- Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- 9+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Strong experience designing and building ETL pipelines and data ingestion frameworks.
- Hands‑on experience with Kafka, NiFi, and AWS (S3, SQS).
- Proficiency in Java with experience in unit and integration testing.
- Secret clearance and a DoD 8570 IAT II certification (or higher).
- Capability to complete a coding challenge as part of the interview process.
Hybrid work model with 1–2 days onsite in Columbia, MD and the remainder remote.
Productivity periods: US Citizen with active Top Secret clearance.
Salary: $133,000 – $238,000, depending on experience, clearance level, location, and contract requirements.
