ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE TS/SCI POLYGRAPH LEVEL IS REQUIRED. We are seeking a versatile, driven Software Engineer with deep expertise in Java and/or AWS to join our engineering team in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will design, maintain, and enhance complex software architectures built to execute processing-intensive analytics and process massive datasets. You won't just write routine code—you’ll architect backend algorithms, optimize cloud computing pipelines, evaluate hardware/software trade-offs, and streamline integrations between GOTS/COTS software and custom services.

The annual base salary range for this role is $186,000-$220,000 (USD), which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.

• Java Development OR AWS Architecture:
  Proven engineering expertise with strong core Java development skills or hands-on experience building/deploying scalable systems in AWS (experience with both is a strong plus).
• Developer Tooling & Workflow:
  Direct, hands-on experience utilizing Git Lab, Jira, and Confluence within an active software development lifecycle.
• Large-Scale System Development:
  Practical background developing processing-intensive software analytics, manipulation routines for large datasets, or real-time distributed systems.
• Software Testing & Debugging:
  Strong skill set in writing test suites, reviewing code components, and troubleshooting software problem reports.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, PLUS 7+ years of professional software engineering experience OR Master's Degree in a related field, PLUS 5+ years of specialized software development experience OR High School Diploma / GED, PLUS 11+ years of hands-on technical software development experience in lieu of a degree.

• Apache NiFi:
  Experience designing, configuring, or troubleshooting dataflow pipelines using Apache NiFi.
• Dual Mastery (Java + AWS):
  Deep technical proficiency combining server-side Java development with cloud-native AWS architectures.
• Containerization & Deployment:
  Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or automated CI/CD deployment pipelines in Git Lab.
• Agile Software Methodologies:
  Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, or Kanban team workflows.
