Reporting to the Head of Software Engineering, this position is part of the Auto Chem Software Center team, with a strong focus on designing, building, and owning automated test coverage for Auto Chem software products. As our Senior Software Development Engineer you will partner closely with software developers, product managers, and project stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle, and serve as the local expert coordinating automation work carried out by Mettler Toledo's globally distributed testing teams.
What You'll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for Auto Chem software products.
- Own the test automation framework end to end, extending and evolving it to keep pace with product architecture and new testing needs.
- Manage automated test source, pipelines, and work items within Azure Dev Ops.
- Analyze software architecture for testability, partnering with developers on design decisions that make new features easier to test.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions with developers.
- Define and track quality metrics and use them to drive continuous improvement in automated testing.
- Serve as the local subject matter expert for the team's globally distributed test automation resources
- Identify, document, and prioritize defects with accurate severity assessments
- Champion scalable automation strategies and best practices that accelerate release cycles and improve product reliability.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of hands‑on experience as an SDET or software engineer in a test‑automation-focused role, including test strategy design, building automation frameworks, and writing production-quality code.
- Working knowledge of C#, sufficient to read, write, and debug within a C#-based codebase.
- Experience with test automation frameworks and tools.
- Solid understanding of Object‑Oriented design principles and unit testing practices.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated tests for complex software products.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and eager to adopt new technologies and tools to improve quality engineering practices.
