Corporate Staff Accountant
This position is an entry level role in the corporate accounting function of a growing, employee-owned (ESOP) construction company. The Corporate Staff Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Manager on core accounting responsibilities and day-to-day accounting operations.
The ideal candidate is a strong team player with solid communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. We are looking for someone who fits well within a collaborative culture and is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-performing accounting team.
Key ResponsibilitiesMonthly Accounting
- Assist with monthly close activities, including preparation of balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Support general ledger maintenance and basic journal entry preparation.
- Help ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting.
- Assist with payment processing, including vendor payments, coding transactions accurately, and other transactional accounting functions as needed.
- Help maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
Payment Processing & Transactional Support
- Assist with payment processing, including vendor payments.
- Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting functions as needed.
- Help code transactions accurately while maintaining the proper documentation consistent with internal SOP.
Special Projects & Operational Support
- Contribute to special projects as assigned, including process improvements, system enhancements, and integration of new or acquired entities.
- Partner with cross functional teams that would be assigned for various ad hoc projects.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
- Accounting experience preferred; open to candidates with varying levels of experience.
- Basic understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
- Experience with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Construction or corporate accounting experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take on new responsibilities.
- Demonstrates an ownership mindset consistent with an employee-owned (ESOP) culture.
- Compensation will be market based and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
