The Accounting Manager will support the Controller in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls within a consumer goods environment. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, experience managing a team, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with FP&A, supply chain, and operations to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP
- Manage general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions, including staff supervision
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
- Partner with FP&A on budget variance analysis and departmental expense reporting
- Coordinate with external auditors on interim and year-end audits
- Support inventory accounting, cost accounting, and COGS analysis specific to consumer goods operations (e.g., promotional allowances, trade spend, rebates, chargebacks)
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and support SOX documentation, if applicable
- Assist in evaluating and implementing accounting system enhancements and process improvements
- Perform technical accounting research on complex transactions (revenue recognition, leases, inventory reserves)
- Support ad hoc reporting and special projects as requested by the Controller/CFO
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including consumer goods, retail, or distribution industry exposure
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with inventory/COGS accounting and trade spend a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations and commercial teams
