Position

Summary

The Program Director / On-Air Host is responsible for shaping and delivering engaging on-air content for Spirit FM, including co-hosting a daily show. This role involves developing and managing on-air talent, overseeing music programming, and enhancing the overall listener experience in alignment with the station’s strategic goals. The position also supports digital engagement and community outreach while embodying the station’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Station Manager and Engagement Director to develop on-air talent, drive audience growth, and implement strategic initiatives across broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Recruit, develop, and oversee on-air talent by providing regular feedback, ensuring audience relevance, and coordinating staff scheduling for remotes and public appearances.
  • Oversee music programming and station imaging by using audience research to guide music selection, producing daily logs, and managing relationships with music labels to ensure a compelling listener experience.
  • Support the development of station branding and imaging in line with strategic goals, while representing the station at promotional events and public appearances.
  • Prepare for and host on-air shifts as required.
  • Assist with miscellaneous departmental duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required;
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Previous related radio programming experience a minimum of three years required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community.

    Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Written & Verbal Communication:
    Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility:
    Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Travel:
    Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for work-related purposes.
  • Financial Oversight:
    Experience managing budgets and financial resources within assigned responsibilities.
  • Driver’s License:
    Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Background Check:
    Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
