Teacher – Social Studies (Middle School)

This position is responsible for providing engaging and effective classroom instruction and training in Social Studies education to Middle School students. The teacher will foster a dynamic learning environment that promotes inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated, both individually and collaboratively.
• Plans and implements a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students using data-driven decision making.
• Creates a positive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
• Prepares well-organized and differentiated lesson plans aligned with the board approved curriculum and submits written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
• Encourages students to develop and maintain high standards of classroom behavior, mutual respect, and active participation.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes and communicates clear learning objectives to students for all lessons and units.
• Employs a variety of research-based instructional strategies, including technology integration, project-based learning, and personalized learning approaches, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the diverse needs and capabilities of individuals or student groups.
• Collaborate effectively with administrators, colleagues, parents, and the community to support student success.
• Implements, by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives, and commitment to serving all students effectively.
• Assesses student learning through various methods, including formative and summative assessments, and provides timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
• Evaluates the learning progress and challenges of students on a regular basis, utilizing data to inform instruction and seeking assistance from District specialists as needed and/or required.
• Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintains accurate and complete records of student progress, attendance, and grades, as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and develops clear expectations for classroom behavior and procedures that are consistently enforced in a fair and appropriate manner.
• Maintains open communication and provides accessibility to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
• Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) where applicable.
• Engage in continuous professional development to enhance pedagogical skills, content knowledge, and understanding of current educational trends and technologies.
• Attends staff meetings, participates in professional learning communities, and serves on staff committees as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum:
Bachelor's degree;
Missouri teacher certificate in social studies 6-8.

Preferred:
Master's degree and 3 years of successful teaching experience.
