Position: Career and Technical Resource Educator (CACC) 2026-27

Career And Technical Resource Educator

This position is an academic support position for students who have IEP/504 plans. Career and Technical Resource Educators (CTREs) facilitate student success by serving as liaisons between special education and career and technical education (CTE) teachers. Students are referred by their instructor and given assistance according to the accommodations in their IEP/504 plan. CTREs assist CTE teachers in communication with special education case managers, parents/guardians, and other support personnel at the student's home school.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties

  • Familiarity with the curricular demands of career and technical education course offerings.
  • Assists CTE instructors with locating and creating resource materials for differentiated classroom instruction.
  • Assists CTE instructors in providing the accommodation outlined in a student's IEP/504 Plan.
  • Provides case management for students with IEPs
  • Serves as a liaison with students' case manager, counselor, administrator, and parents.
  • Attends parent meetings (which include IEP and 504 meetings) to either review student progress in their CTE course, discuss CTE course selection, and/or postsecondary plans.
  • Works with students individually and in small groups on CTE course projects, assignments, test preparation, and testing.
  • Facilitates a CTRE advisory committee that meets twice a year.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy, and Administrative regulation.
  • Evaluates the learning problems of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance of District specialists as needed and/or required.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. (i.e. participate in professional development to attain and upgrade skills)
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as needed.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Performs other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School.

Qualifications

Minimum:
Bachelor's degree, Missouri teaching certificate in special education.
