Assistant Coach – Cheerleading
The Columbia Public School District is seeking an Assistant Cheerleading Coach for Lange Middle School. This position will help maintain the Cheer program.
The Assistant Cheerleading Coach is responsible for:
- Help maintain the Cheer program.
- Work along and complement the Head Coach in developing Cheerleaders
- Maintaining positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
- Assist with coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
- Encouraging good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
- Collaborating with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes.
Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.
All employees of the District are expected to adhere to the policies and regulations of the Board of Education, maintain appropriate certification and competencies necessary for the position, and demonstrate the values of the district at all times.

Athletic Director/Assistant Principal
Supervises:
None
Minimum: 60 hours of college credit is required;
Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is required;
Sport First Aid Course is required.
If hired as a coach via a substitute certificate, the individual must satisfactorily complete (make a grade of 80% to pass) a MSHSAA approved coaches education program (NFICEP) before he/she can be hired for a coaching position in any subsequent year. In addition, all coaches despite certification status must attend a NFICEP first-aid class and pass the exit test given at that time.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree;
Missouri teaching certificate;
Prior teaching/coaching experience.
Ideal candidate will have a professional and friendly demeanor with a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment while working with others and making it a fun environment that has Coach and Competed in one of the following:
Cheer/Dance/Stunt competitions.

Read, analyze and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms and governmental regulations and guidance;
Complete forms and write reports;
Present information effectively and respond to questions.

Perform basic mathematical functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing;
Apply concepts; such as, fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Solve a variety of problems in many different situations;
Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagram or schedule form;
Apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students.

Identify needs and abilities of individual students and to adapt instructional methods accordingly; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, administrators, and parents; perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Perform basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use;
Use district software for finding student information;
Utilize smart boards, projectors and other instructional technology provided by the district.
Physical Demands:
Speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously;
Move around a classroom, gymnasium, and playing field;
Read handwritten or printed material.
Attendance:
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position:
Requires frequent evening and/or weekend work related to practice and competition;
Evenings and/or weekends travel to accompany students to games and meets.
Sensory Requirements:
The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking.
Conditions and Environment:
Regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active;
And will be required to work outdoors.
