SUMMARY
The Retail Training Specialist is responsible for delivering hands-on new hire training at one of our Retail Training Stores for team members in our On the Run and Dirt Cheap convenience store locations. Our hands-on training, delivered by the Retail Training Specialist, drives consistency, standardization and accountability for new hire performance. The Retail Training Specialist schedules, manages, and administers established programs designed to drive behaviors consistent with our training manual as well as our Wallis Core Values.

RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY Business Results OrientationRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work alongside entry-level team members in convenience store environment to deliver hands-on new hire training in compliance with the training manual, standards, and expectations
- Administer candidate skill and behavior assessments according to company procedure, and document results in HRIS
- Administer pre-employment drug tests and ensure strict compliance with company standards
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required
- Determine department supply needs for hiring and training materials; collaborate with Store Manager to order products and maintain supplies
- Manage training content; deliver on updates to content as applicable
- Think critically, identify and share process improvements to enhance effectiveness of Retail education
- Cross-train, expand skills sets and competencies of new hires
- Serve as a member of the new employee onboarding team in order to fully immerse new hire in the culture of Wallis
- Facilitate new hire Orientation sessions and other in-person classes as needed
- Solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations
- Work with management to identify performance gaps and help identify and develop solutions to improve individual and team performance
- Participate in company events, both internal and in the community
- Work an irregular schedule including some evenings and weekends
- Perform other duties not listed as required
- Strong communication, presentation, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Provide feedback documentation to management upon completion of the new hire training audit for each new employee
- Attend scheduled meetings with Store Trainer peers to discuss ideas and continuous improvement opportunities
- Keep supervisor informed of current tasks and any problems or discrepancies
- Evaluate results of training efforts and integrate that information into feedback for the stores
- Develop skills and behaviors consistent with the Brand Promise
- Present a positive image of Wallis Companies at every step of the hiring process and beyond
- Assess employee performance in response to training, provide feedback, observe and document performance while in the learning environment
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending internal and external education seminars, workshops, reviewing professional publications
- Attend company training classes to further knowledge of the company’s goals
- Identify learning styles, incorporate how to address different learning styles in training to stores who will conduct the new hire training
- Complete safety training as required
- Leverage HRIS systems and learning management systems
- Ensure that standardized training guides are followed as they are designed; no deviation from the plan
- Apply adult learning methodology in the development of the training program and content leveraging web-based training, presentations to engage learners
- Collaborate with team to analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate new hire manuals, aides and other training documents
- Demonstrate skills in the areas of project coordination, multi-tasking, prioritization of demands, group discussion, training, facilitation, decision making, communication and time management
