Job Responsibilities- Review applications for and draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) operating permits for domestic wastewater discharging facilities.
- Gain a general working knowledge of various wastewater treatment technologies, nomenclature, and expected performance capabilities.
- Correspond with permit tees, consultants, stakeholders, or other interested persons regarding permit requirements.
- Become proficient with and implement applicable state statutes as well as state and federal regulations regarding the NPDES permit requirements and processes.
- Attend trainings and conferences to maintain technical understanding of the NPDES program to include the various wastewater treatment technologies utilized around the state of Missouri.
- Attend, in coordination with regional office team members, occasional field/site visits when necessary to gain a better understanding of a specific treatment technology.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding timely and professionally to inquiries from other department team members, permit tees, consultants, and the general public.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- Bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience. Preferred degree program would include the following:
Environmental Science or Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Hydrology or Water Management, Physical Science, Natural Resource Management, Soil Conservation, or a closely related field.
