Deputy Collector
Boone County, located in Columbia, MO, is looking for a Deputy Collector.
Responsibilities:
- Assist taxpayers in person, by phone, and by correspondence in a professional manner.
- Process payments made in-person and via mail, drop box, web, phone, and online bill pay.
- Process and follow up with various intermittent payments, including rejected payments, returned payments, prepayments, and overages.
- Perform comprehensive procedures for vital processes, including the installment payment plan, escrow payments, probate claims, nuisance abatements, and delinquent tax certificate sale.
- Balance cash drawers and create payment receipts.
- Utilize approved skip tracing resources to locate taxpayers.
- Perform routine office tasks, including opening and closing the office, stocking supplies, and maintaining retention schedules.
Status:
Full-time, non-exempt, benefited
Working hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location:
Columbia, Missouri
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of two to four years of clerical experience, including spreadsheet and word processing applications; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to secure and maintain qualifications for a $50,000 surety bond once employed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a professional office setting; assisting the public in person and by telephone; and experience in cashiering or handling cash.
Starting Hourly Range: $21.52 - $22.17 per hour
