Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Martin Marietta is seeking a Mechanic to operate service trucks and provide support at Randolph Mine, working on and maintaining mining and construction equipment. Job duties include troubleshooting and repairs of heavy equipment, minor rebuilds, removal and installation of mechanical parts, repairing/replacing hydraulic lines, pumps, driveshafts, brakes, hydraulic cylinders, basic wiring troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on all types of diesel‑powered equipment.
Location:
Martin Marietta’s Missouri market is anchored by the Randolph Mine, a major underground limestone operation located in Randolph, Missouri. The facility supplies crushed stone and other aggregate products to contractors, municipalities, and producers across the Kansas City metropolitan area.
- Participate in safety programs and trainings, promoting Martin Marietta’s Guardian Angel culture.
- Disassemble machines and remove parts for repairs using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, or hoists.
- Inspect equipment for signs of wear.
- Collaborate with team members to repair or move machine parts for equipment or transport materials between work areas.
- Lubricate machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to standards.
- Tend to equipment such as conveyors to move materials through production processes.
- Perform basic maintenance on heavy mobile equipment.
- Perform welding and fabrication activities as needed.
- Work in a team environment.
- Clean work areas.
- Wear personal protective equipment properly.
- Notify supervisors of needed repairs.
Education and Experience
- Knowledge of mining equipment is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools, torque wrenches, and impact wrenches, and follow Technical Manual procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in equipment repair.
- Ability to operate vehicles and diagnostic equipment.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, and lift 75 pounds continually throughout the shift (8–12 hours).
- Must be able to work under stress and prioritize work requirements to meet overall operational needs.
- Must be able to work in both hot and cold environments.
- Must be dependable, consistently at work, and on time, follow instructions well, respond to management direction, and solicit feedback to improve performance.
- Demonstrated ability to monitor own work to ensure accuracy and quality.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Valid Commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
- Must be able to pass pre‑employment drug screening.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of MSHA regulations.
- Effective verbal communication.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, and maintenance.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment year‑round.
- General physical activities include climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, reaching with hands and arms, and handling material.
In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined, the successful candidate may be expected to take on other tasks and assignments as required, including but not limited to duties outside the typical scope of the role to support overall team operations and organizational needs. Flexibility and adaptability to evolving job demands are essential.
