Job SummaryThe Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s stay and coordinates care planning with other disciplines, utilizing a patient/customer‑driven approach.
Job Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment upon admission, transfer, or discharge.
- Document findings accurately and completely.
- Assess post‑op and postoperative patients and identify education and discharge needs.
- Reassess patients and document observations according to the plan of care, changes in condition, status, diagnosis, response to care, procedures, and standards of care.
- Establish, coordinate, and evaluate a plan of care based on assessment data, diagnoses, lab results, tests, and physician orders.
- Identify short‑ and long‑term goals based on patient care needs and formulate nursing interventions to achieve outcomes.
- Incorporate evidence‑based practice into nursing care plans and documentation.
- Collaborate with health‑team members for daily care coordination and provide accurate hand‑off communication reports.
- Administer medications and maintain accurate IV fluids and parenteral nutrition records per policies and procedures.
- Complete referrals, request consultations for special needs, and provide patient/family education and discharge planning.
- Clarify physician orders, acknowledge and implement them timely, and assist physicians with procedures or delegate appropriately.
- Record and communicate nursing care, changes in patient condition, and results of evaluations.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of care effectiveness, modify the plan of care as needed, and report significant changes immediately.
- Perform specialized care for patients at high risk, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment.
- Maintain quality and performance standards, policies, and protocols while participating in ongoing learning experiences.
- Support new staff through orientation and teaching, and maintain a collaborative team approach.
- Implement safety and infection‑control practices, adhere to standard precautions, and document safe patient handling.
- Maintain current licenses, certifications (BLS HCP, HI, TB screening, influenza vaccination, etc.), and complete mandatory training.
- Provide excellent service, communicate effectively, and maintain confidentiality.
- Assure patient safety by recognizing risks, responding to changes, and involving family/guardians in decision‑making.
- Support performance improvement initiatives and participate in unit and hospital quality projects.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri.
- Prior BMT experience or chemotherapy certification is a plus but not required.
- Experience in an outpatient setting is preferred.
- Strong assessment, critical‑thinking, and clinical judgment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing workloads.
- Commitment to quality of care, infection control, and patient safety.
