Overview
Job Summary
Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care to patients requiring intermediate or progressive levels of care. These patients often have complex medical conditions and require frequent monitoring and specialized interventions.
Job Responsibilities
• Provides care to acutely ill patients who require close observation and advanced nursing interventions in a progressive care environment. These patients may have unstable conditions but do not require intensive care-level support.
• Monitors patients for changes in condition, responds promptly to evolving clinical needs, and manages therapies such as cardiac monitoring, titration of medications, and non-invasive ventilation.
• Educates patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, medication management, infection prevention, and strategies for recovery and transition to the next level of care.
• Demonstrates competency in evaluating progressive care patients, administering care, recognizing complications, and coordinating with other members of the healthcare team.
• Develops, implements, and revises individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, following established guidelines and standards of nursing practice.
• Evaluates patient responses to treatment modalities and adjusts care plans accordingly throughout the stay. Applies critical thinking skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
• Promotes positive interpersonal relationships in a patient- and family-centered environment.
• Strives for excellence in patient care and safety; actively participates in quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Engages in professional development and lifelong learning to maintain and enhance clinical skills.
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Nursing Diploma/Associate Degree - Nursing
• 2-5 Years' Experience
• RN License/Certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
• Cert/License in Area of Expertise
