Position: Progressive Care Patient Care Tech - FT

Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County offering a continuum of medical and surgical services. The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 16‑bed inpatient unit caring for post‑operative cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients once they no longer require intensive CVR monitoring.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care support to licensed professional nurses for a team of patients, ensuring a safe environment and reducing risk of harm.

Responsibilities
  • Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point‑of‑care testing as requested.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
  • Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Requirements

  • Certified Nurse Assistant
Schedule and Compensation

36 hours per week. Requires overnight shifts 6:45 pm‑7:15 am, holiday rotation, and every third weekend. Must attend a 2‑week orientation Mon‑Fri 7:30 am‑4:00 pm.
