Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient's hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer‑driven approach.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Performs comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment, including age‑appropriate admission or transfer assessments, post‑op/post‑invasive procedure evaluations, and continuous reassessments during hospitalization.
  • Accurately and completely documents findings in the patient record.
  • Establishes, coordinates, and evaluates a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab results, protocols, and other relevant information.
  • Identifies short‑term and long‑term goals, formulates nursing interventions, and incorporates evidence‑based practice into the care plan.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate the daily plan of care and provides accurate hand‑off communication reports.
  • Administers medications, monitors IV fluids and parenteral nutrition, and documents medication administration in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Completes referrals, requests consultations, and coordinates patient/family education and discharge planning per documentation guidelines.
  • Clarifies physician orders, implements them accurately and timely, assists physicians with procedures, and documents readbacks for telephone/verbal orders.
  • Monitors patient condition for changes and takes appropriate nursing actions, involving family/guardian in care and decision‑making as appropriate.
  • Applies infection control practices in daily care and identifies risks for patient safety, taking corrective action when needed.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care interventions, patient/family education, and modifies the plan of care as necessary.
  • Provides specialized care to high‑risk patients, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment, documenting all interventions thoroughly.
  • Adheres to quality and performance standards, participates in learning experiences, and maintains professional competence and current knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Provides mentorship and orientation for new employees, delegates care appropriately, and communicates plans of care clearly.
  • Follows safety and infection control policies, practices standard precautions, disposes of hazardous waste, and maintains a safe, clean environment.
  • Completes annual mandatory requirements such as licensing, certifications, BLS/HI, TB screening, influenza vaccination, ethics training, safety training, and information security coursework.
  • Demonstrates customer service excellence, respects patients and colleagues, and maintains confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Maintain proper hand hygiene and infection control practices, educate patients and visitors.
  • Follow hospital policies for medication, dressing changes, and invasive line care.
  • Communicate effectively, share knowledge, and model practice excellence to new employees.
  • Maintain a neat, organized work environment and address any out‑of‑order items promptly.
  • Show empathy, respect, and dignity towards patients, families, and colleagues, and respond promptly to patient requests.
  • Provide clear patient education, explain procedures, and ensure privacy and safety.
Licensure and Certifications
  • Missouri
    :
    Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA);
    Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or RN issued by Compact State.
  • Illinois
    : BLS HCP – AHA;
    Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Oklahoma
    : BLS HCP – AHA; RN issued by Compact State or RN – Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN).
  • Wisconsin
    : BLS HCP – AHA; RN issued by Compact State or RN – Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
