Key Areas of Responsibility

Team Lead Charge RN positions are available for the following units:

  • Inpatient Surgical – fast‑paced multidisciplinary unit providing specialized pre‑operative and post‑operative care for complex surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties.
  • Acute Medicine – 300‑bed high‑acuity inpatient medical unit providing comprehensive care for patients with complex conditions including heart and renal failure, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, infectious diseases, respiratory illnesses, and hematologic conditions.
  • Neuro Sciences – units include Neuro Medicine, Neurosurgical Step‑Down, and one of the nation’s largest Neuro ICU, offering exposure to cutting‑edge technology and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Position Requirements
  • Requires 2‑5 years of medical/surgical bedside nursing experience
  • BSN highly preferred due to Magnet Status
Role Purpose

Under the direction of the manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of the assigned unit as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitates identification and resolution of gaps in care from hospitalization, at discharge, and into the ambulatory care setting. Critically assesses patient data to proactively mitigate impending changes in condition and establishes consults to the interprofessional team as appropriate.
  • Leads the development and implementation of complex individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver in accordance with established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Plan of care reflects application of expert holistic clinical knowledge and skill to anticipate and prioritize complex care needs, anticipate barriers, incorporate interprofessional team and caregiver/family input, and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Actively utilizes and champions scientific inquiry for evidence‑based practices (e.g., participates in journal club, facilitates practice change based on new knowledge, recommends new standards of care or revisions to current standards, conducts a literature search to support unit or organizational goals, disseminates new knowledge obtained from relevant conference or continuing education). Explores opportunities to advance nursing practice (e.g., supports community service health event, patient/family education group, community advisory board, serves as adjunct faculty or leadership board in specialty organization).
  • Analyzes gaps in practice standards and provides feedback to peers in collaboration with leadership to enhance safe patient care. Leads evaluation of the patient and family experience and adjusts care to improve satisfaction and quality of care.
  • Position is safety‑sensitive. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
Minimum Requirements

    Nursing Diploma or Associate’s degree
