TITLE:
Nurse for 1:1 Medically Complex Student
POSITION SUMMARY:
A long-term substitute school nurse for a 1:1 special needs student to provide dedicated, daily medical care to an individual student, ensuring specific health needs are met to allow for educational participation . Responsibilities include administering medication, performing specialized health procedures (e.g., G-tube feeding, suctioning), managing chronic conditions, and documenting care in compliance with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited-licensed nurse program
- Valid nursing license in the State of Missouri
- Maintain record of annual continuing education
- Current CPR Certification
- Ability to pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active Registered Nurse
- Pediatric or special needs experience
REPORTS TO: Health Coordinator and Building Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Dedicated 1:1 support to a specific student.
- Responsible for direct and indirect care given to the student in compliance with school district policies, professional standards of practice, physician's orders and Individual Health Care Plans.
- Implementing IEP health plans, which may include seizure management, catheterization, and feeding.
- Ensure the maintenance of accurate health records for the student.
- Implementation of emergency care plans in the event of an accident or health event.
- Respect the dignity, confidentiality, and rights of all students and staff - uphold regulations and laws related to confidentiality, reporting of child abuse and neglect, and other health-related requirements.
- Maintain professional competencies through in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth programs.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Health Coordinator, Building Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Potential of 186.5 days dependent on student attendance; 8.0 hrs / day. Does not include a 30 minute lunch.
- Pay is dependent on licensing and certifications:
- RN:
Starting at $28.10/hr (plus credit for up to 7 years of relevant experience) - LPN: $19.16/hr (plus credit for up to 7 years of relevant experience)

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
