Maternal Newborn Unit Registered Nurse

Shift: Full Time Weekend Days (7a-7:30p), 3 12s/week, requires rotating holidays

Compensation:

· Base Pay Range: $34.46 - $51.02 per hour, based on experience

· Shift Differentials:

o Additional $3.00 per hour for core charge

o Additional $8.00 per hour for RN Weekend Program shifts

Detailed Job Description

· Provides clinical patient care within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including assessment of condition, goal setting, and nursing actions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient

· Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses the patient's self-report and symptoms of pain promptly, utilizing an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment.

· Demonstrates an understanding of medications' actions and side effects. Reports pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educates patients and their chosen support person(s) about medications.

· Demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.

· Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of MU Health Care and assigned nursing unit.

· Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. resident physician, ancillary support teams) and records those observations accurately and concisely.

· Ensures smooth patient flow and efficient bed management within the unit.

· Coordinates admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients as needed.

· Communicates effectively with healthcare providers and other departments during emergencies.

· Facilitates effective communication between nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.

· Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and achieve optimal patient outcomes.

· Provides clinical guidance, support, and performance feedback to nursing staff.

· Serves as a resource for nursing staff regarding clinical issues and patient-care decisions.

· Addresses and resolves patient care concerns and complaints promptly, escalating to the clinical manager or Office of Patient Experience as appropriate.
