About the RoleWe are looking for two driven, personable Business Development Representatives (BDR) - one based in St. Louis and one based in Kansas City - to help TJS Photography grow its client base and expand its reach across Missouri.
This is not a traditional sales role. You are not reading from a script or cold calling strangers from a cubicle. You are opening meaningful conversations with organizations that need what TJS Photography does, and doing it in a way that reflects who we are as a creative firm.
Meaning that you also need to understand, at least at a basic level, the nature of visual storytelling. TJS Photography does not just show up to take photos. We tell the stories of the organizations we serve. A strong BDR communicates this in every outreach: not 'we take photos' but 'we help you preserve your impact, document your mission, and give your organization content that works for you long after the event ends.'
You build relationships, follow up consistently, and bring interested clients to the point of confirmed interest. From there, our operations team takes over.
Where We WorkTJS Photography serves clients across Missouri and the surrounding regions. As a Business Development Representative, you are not limited to your home city. Our operational service radius extends to any destination within a 6-hour drive of St. Louis, including major metropolitan markets across Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Iowa
.
BDRs are highly encouraged to identify and pursue leads across this full regional range. For high-value opportunities outside this 6-hour driving radius, full travel arrangements (flights, lodging, and ground transport) may be negotiated directly into the client contract. Always flag these long-distance opportunities to operations before finalizing details.
What You Will Do- Identify and research potential clients - corporate organizations, nonprofits, conference organizers, and private event hosts - in your designated locations
- Make first contact via email and follow up consistently until a decision is made, via emails, calls, and/or visit when necessary
- Manage and update your lead tracker daily - every contact, every follow-up, every status change logged same day
- Send the lead quote request email (gathering event details, timeline, budget) and CC operations — you do not quote, you do not invoice, but you gather the information operations needs to build the quote
- Attend virtual team check-ins and report on your weekly activity - leads contacted, responses received, conversions
- Participate in a sales workshop led by our in-house sales coach when organized
- Represent TJS Photography with professionalism, warmth, and alignment to our brand voice in every interaction
- Someone with an understanding of - or genuine interest in and is willing to learn - the creative services industry: creative services, photography, film, or visual storytelling.
You do not need to be a photographer. You need to understand why it matters - Someone who understands storytelling and documenting impact
- Someone who communicates well in writing - clear, warm, and direct
- Someone who follows through - if you say you will follow up, you follow up
- Someone who is organized and can manage a lead pipeline without being micromanaged
- Someone with existing connections in the St. Louis or Kansas City business or nonprofit community — a plus, not a requirement
- Prior sales, business development, or client relations experience preferred
