Overview

We are hiring! The Department of Biology at Saint Louis University is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach one semester of BIOL
1600 Microbiology for Nursing. This is a three-credit hour course that will cover important groups of human pathogenic microorganisms to include structure, pathogenicity, epidemiology, diagnosis, laboratory identification, modes of action of selected antibiotics and chemotherapeutic. Other learning outcomes include the essential concepts for nurses to recognize infection, prevent the spread of infection, collect specimens and ensure integrity of the specimens, communicate with the laboratory, and interpret laboratory reporting are also emphasized.

• Teach one semester of BIOL
  1600 Microbiology for Nursing (3 credit hours).
• Deliver in-person lectures twice weekly (M/W 3:10 – 4:25 pm) in Saint Louis, MO.
• Cover topics including structure, pathogenicity, epidemiology, diagnosis, laboratory identification, and modes of action of selected antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents.
• Emphasize learning outcomes related to recognizing infection, preventing the spread of infection, collecting specimens and ensuring specimen integrity, communicating with the laboratory, and interpreting laboratory reporting.
