The Disassembly Mechanic is responsible for safely disassembling industrial instruments, valves, and related equipment into individual components and subassemblies for inspection, repair, and inventory purposes. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately identify, tag, and track parts throughout the teardown process.
Key Responsibilities- Disassemble instruments, valves, and related equipment using hand tools and shop equipment.
- Identify components and subassemblies using OEM manuals, photographs, PMI testing (Niton), and product knowledge.
- Properly tag, label, and track parts to ensure accurate inventory, status, and location records.
- Communicate parts shortages, damaged components, and potential repair concerns to the Supervisor.
- Support inventory and stock checks by disassembling equipment and staging parts for review.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist with training and mentoring less experienced technicians.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of mechanical, industrial, maintenance, valve repair, or related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with shop documentation systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a climate-controlled shop environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and organize parts efficiently.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

- Communication – Provides timely and accurate information to supervisors and team members.

This position reports directly to the Department Supervisor and works closely with other shop personnel to support repair and inventory operations.
