Metro Services Groups is hiring a Capital Improvements Technician with strong residential construction experience to execute major renovation and rehab projects across the Columbia, Missouri area and other parts of the state. This hands‑on role requires Monday–Friday travel with overnight stays, proficiency across multiple building trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, masonry, painting), strict adherence to safety, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Candidates must supply their own hand and power tools, maintain a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance, and be able to pass a background check and periodic drug testing.
- Perform capital improvement projects, including rough and trim carpentry, plumbing, drywall repair and finishing, electrical, masonry, painting, and janitorial tasks tied to major renovations and rehabs
- Read and interpret drawings, sketches, instructions, and specifications to plan and execute work
- Operate required equipment and tools safely and effectively; maintain and use personal hand and power tools
- Travel throughout the Columbia region and other parts of Missouri Monday–Friday with overnight stays; return home on weekends
- Drive to company‑owned locations and suppliers; transport materials as needed
- Follow all safe work practices and company policies on every job site
- Attend and participate in regional and corporate trainings and conferences as required
- Work independently, manage time effectively, and meet set deadlines and quality standards
- Residential construction experience (required)
- Working knowledge of multiple building trades: carpentry (rough/trim), plumbing, electrical, drywall repair/finishing, masonry, painting, and related janitorial tasks
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, instructions, and specifications
- Proven experience operating construction equipment and tools; must provide own hand and power tools
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and active insurance
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 75% Monday–Friday with overnight stays; home on weekends
- Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with company safety standards
- Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to pass a background check and periodic drug testing
