Transportation Supervisor

Seeking a Transportation Supervisor to oversee daily delivery operations, including delivery staff, route execution, safety, regulatory compliance, productivity, scheduling, customer service, and fleet or equipment coordination.

This role is responsible for leading Delivery Associates, maintaining compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
, managing labor and supplies within budget, and driving operational efficiency across the delivery department.

• Supervise the daily work, performance, and safety of Delivery Associates
• Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, planned delivery routes, and customer service standards
• Monitor compliance with DOT, OSHA, and federal, state, and local regulations
• Ensure electronic driver logs and required records are accurate and up to date
• Manage labor hours, staffing levels, shifts, and consumable supplies within budget
• Prepare employee schedules, including additional workdays and shifts as required
• Oversee appropriate selection and utilization of vehicles, equipment, and other delivery assets
• Coordinate vehicle and equipment repairs with the appropriate departments
• Review delivery productivity, operational performance, and reporting
• Identify efficiency improvements and cost-reduction opportunities
• Support implementation of operational and delivery process improvements
• Train and consistently enforce company policies, procedures, food safety requirements, DOT regulations, and record-keeping standards
• Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to resolve customer and delivery issues
• Visit customer locations to address service concerns and assess delivery requirements or challenges
• Conduct department and pre-shift meetings to maintain employee engagement and communication
• Answer employee questions and explain policies, procedures, and operational requirements
• Monitor employee morale and recommend initiatives to improve engagement
• Partner with Safety teams on employee training, safety observations, work-method updates, accident investigations, root-cause analysis, and routine safety inspections
• Recommend disciplinary or behavioral actions when required
• Support employee hiring, development, performance management, discipline, and termination processes
• Perform delivery associate duties and other operational responsibilities when required and qualified

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• 1–3 years of related experience and/or training
• Strong knowledge of transportation, delivery, logistics, or distribution operations
• Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Ability to lead individual and team meetings and discussions
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to make independent decisions while following established policies and procedures
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to interpret written, verbal, technical, regulatory, and operational instructions

• Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet and word-processing software
• Ability to learn transportation and logistics technology systems
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, safety, and operational procedures
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field
• Haz Mat certification
• Valid Class A CDL meeting applicable company standards
• Experience in food distribution, fleet operations, transportation, logistics, or delivery management

• Regular standing, walking, sitting, reaching, handling, climbing, and balancing
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs and push/pull up to 350 lbs
• Work may involve wet, hot, cold, humid, noisy, or mechanically active environments
• May involve confined spaces, elevated areas, fumes, or airborne particles
• Requires flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules
• Occasional travel to other operating locations or corporate facilities may be required
