Under the general supervision of the school principal, the teacher will develop students’ physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, poise, coordination, and teamwork; foster an understanding of the importance of exercise for physical and mental well‑being; and motivate students toward physical fitness, hygiene, and good health.

Essential Functions- Develop and administer Physical Education classes consistent with Diocesan school goals and objectives.
- Teach knowledge of and develop skills in physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports.
- Develop students’ concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills; provide a safe learning environment and give feedback on student progress.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and modify instruction to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research.
- Organize and maintain accurate record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance.
- Assist in coordinating extra‑curricular activities, including performances, assemblies, and athletic events.
- Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure student conduct conforms to school standards and district policies, establishing a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with other staff and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate instructional aids, supplies, and equipment, and maintain inventory records.
- Inspect equipment and field areas to ensure safe use.
- Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time.
- Collaborate with other staff to plan and schedule lessons following approved curricula.
- Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following state, diocese, and school guidelines.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate them to students.
- Encourage students to explore learning opportunities and persevere with challenging tasks.
- Manage classroom equipment, materials, and supplies, including storage, ordering, inventory, and labeling.
- Provide materials and resources for exploration and imaginative play.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visitors, and experiential activities.
- Instruct students individually and in groups using lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
- Organize and lead activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Read to entire classes or small groups.
- Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment to supplement presentations.
- Instruct and monitor students on the safe use of equipment and materials.
- Assign and grade classwork and homework.
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate progress.
- Administer standardized tests and interpret results to determine strengths and needs.
