The Heavy Duty Diesel Technician is responsible for performing repair and maintenance work on both the internal company fleet, and external customer vehicles, including both diesel and non-diesel trucks. The primary responsibilities include:
- Diagnose, rebuild, and repair trucks and trailers (including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs)
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles, as well as conduct routine service on heavy‑duty vehicles
- Effectively operate machinery, including, but not limited to: forklift, tire changer, overhead crane, various pneumatic tools, alignment machine, welders, and plasma cutter
- Maintain a safe environment for self and team members
- Serve in a rotating on‑call schedule with all technicians
The regular schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM.This position is 50 hours/week
, and is paid hourly with overtime pay
after the first 40 hours.
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years diesel technician experience
- Valid Driver’s License at a minimum; willingness to obtain valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License during the course of employment
- Ability to perform general equipment maintenance and repairs
- Must have own tools (Shop does provide larger tools to aid in repairs)
- Post‑secondary certificate or formal technician training
- Valid Class A CDL and DOT PA Class 7 Inspection License
- Welding and hydraulic experience
- Paint and body work experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to routinely use standard office equipment (i.e. computers, telephones, photocopiers, etc.)
- Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, reach, stoop, and kneel
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal oversight
- Exposure to fumes of airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration
- Exposure to high noise levels
- Ability to handle “on the road” situations that develop (weather conditions, accidents, etc.)
