Accountant, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections, Financial Reporting

Description We are looking for a skilled Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Columbia, South Carolina. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, with expertise in handling financial transactions, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities:

- Manage accounts payable processes, including timely payment of invoices and vendor communications.

- Oversee accounts receivable activities, ensuring accurate billing and prompt collection of payments.

- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.

- Perform regular bank reconciliations to verify financial accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial data is current and accurate.

- Handle payroll processing for an employee base of 101-500, ensuring timely and accurate payment.

- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

- Generate financial reports and statements to assist with decision-making and audits.

- Identify and address accounting discrepancies, providing solutions to maintain financial integrity.

- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all deadlines are met. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.

- Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries with attention to detail.

- Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and techniques.

- Experience in payroll processing for mid-sized organizations (101-500 employees).

- Familiarity with accounting software and tools to streamline financial operations.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in handling financial discrepancies.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
