Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Columbia, South Carolina. This role is ideal for someone who can manage day-to-day financial activities with accuracy, maintain reliable records, and contribute to timely reporting. The position offers the opportunity to apply strong tax and general ledger experience while working in a structured accounting environment.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances to support month-end and ongoing accounting activities.

- Assist with the preparation and review of corporate tax filings in alignment with applicable regulations.

- Manage sales tax reporting processes, including compiling data, verifying calculations, and supporting timely submissions.

- Maintain organized accounting documentation and supporting schedules for audits, reporting, and compliance needs.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information and resolve accounting discrepancies efficiently. Requirements - Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.

- Working knowledge of corporate tax principles and related filing requirements.

- Hands-on experience preparing or supporting sales tax reporting activities.

- Strong understanding of journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance.

- Ability to work accurately with financial data and meet established deadlines.

- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.
