Program Advisor/Outreach Coordinator
The Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning (CIEL) is a comprehensive learning initiative to support all students in enhancing their Carolina education by connecting academics and beyond the classroom experiences. CIEL administers Graduation with Leadership Distinction (GLD) which recognizes students for their achievement in integrating learning within and beyond the classroom to lead. The CIEL Program Advisor and Event Coordinator will (1) advise students on Graduation with Leadership Distinction and support their development of integrative learning (e.g., developing presentations and ePortfolios reflecting within and beyond the classroom learning);
(2) coordinate annual events in relation to GLD (Fall Showcase, cording ceremonies, Write Nite, etc); and (3) organize and lead GLD alumni initiatives through managing contact information, conducting surveys, and planning events. The CIEL Program Advisor and Event Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Associate Director and in collaboration with other CIEL staff and university partners.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of integrative and experiential learning principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively advise and support students from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Experience in developing presentations and digital portfolios, as well as facilitating reflective practices.
- Ability to coordinate and execute outreach efforts, including presentations and events, to engage students, faculty, and staff.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms for disseminating information and engaging with stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and university partners to support program initiatives and contribute to a productive, professional environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Ability to utilize organizational and workflow technologies supported through CIEL.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with experiential learning programs or initiatives.
- Familiarity with learning management systems and ePortfolio platforms.
- Knowledge of higher education policies and regulations related to student academic programs and graduation requirements.
- Familiarity with assessment practices and tools for evaluating student learning outcomes.
- Experience with event planning and coordination.
