Stantec is seeking a Bridge Engineer to be a part of the growing Columbia, SC design team. An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Bridge Engineer, who wants to be a part of a dynamic Transportation group. • Prepare structural design calculations, plans and contract documents in accordance with applicable design and agency standards.
• Develop plan submissions for all manner of structural transportation projects.
• Perform structural analysis of new designs and existing structures (bridges and other transportation structures).
• Lead and reviewing conceptual design alternatives to develop innovative and cost-effective design solutions.
• Potentially perform inspection of simple and complex bridges along with preparing the inspection reports.

• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas.
• Experience with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications is required.
• Experience with SCDOT design criteria and requirements is preferred.
• Experience in developing plans using Bentley Micro Station.
• Bridge load rating experience using AASHTOWare BrR is preferred.
• Understanding of national and state bridge inspection methods, evaluations, and report preparation is preferred.
• Bridge Condition Inspection experience is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Experience on bridge design/analysis software.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years structural engineering experience on bridges and other transportation structures.
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering. Master's degree is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in South Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months.
