Position Overview
Are you a seasoned civil engineer ready to move beyond design and into a high-impact leadership role? We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to spearhead our most complex site development and infrastructure initiatives in the Columbia region. In this role, you are the primary architect of project success—transitioning from technical execution to a mission-critical position where you define project vision, cultivate elite client relationships, and steer multidisciplinary teams toward excellence.
Joining our team means more than just managing a portfolio; it's about building a legacy within a firm that prioritizes your professional trajectory as much as the projects themselves. With a culture rooted in mentorship and technical mastery, you will have the autonomy to manage the full project lifecycle while benefiting from a robust internal support system, including specialized Civil 3D training and tuition reimbursement.
This is an opportunity to own your career path in an environment that rewards high-level business acumen and visionary leadership.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Project Stewardship:
Architect the lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring every milestone aligns with the firm's standards for technical excellence, budgetary precision, and aggressive schedules. - Client Relationship Management:
Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for public and private clients, translating complex engineering challenges into actionable business solutions. - Proposal & Fee Development:
Lead the pursuit of new opportunities by crafting high-impact proposals and developing sophisticated fee structures that ensure project profitability and scope clarity. - Multidisciplinary Integration:
Orchestrate the efforts of internal engineering teams and external consultants, ensuring seamless coordination between civil site design and utility infrastructure. - Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Supervise and inspire a dedicated team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance. - Business Operations:
Monitor project financial health and scope creep using advanced project management software, maintaining deep insight into business financial metrics to drive firm-wide growth. - Quality & Compliance:
Oversee the creation of comprehensive scopes of work and technical deliverables, ensuring all designs for water, sewer, and storm drainage meet rigorous regulatory and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. - Licensure:
Active Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license. - Experience:
12+ years of progressive experience in the design and management of public and private civil site projects. - Software Proficiency:
Demonstrated working experience with AutoCAD, with a strong preference for Civil 3D workflows. - Leadership:
Proven track record of leading complex engineering projects and mentoring junior technical staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Market Insight:
Strong existing network within the South Carolina AEC industry and proven business development capabilities. - Financial Literacy:
Advanced understanding of project-based accounting and business financial information. - Advanced Coordination:
Experience managing large-scale, multi-phase municipal infrastructure projects.
