The Failure Analysis Process (FAP) Engineer is responsible for identifying and solving problems related to the body-in-white manufacturing process, ensuring high-quality standards, and optimizing production efficiency. This role involves analyzing process data, troubleshooting issues, designing process improvements, and collaborating with the quality and production teams to maintain consistent quality and meet product specifications.

Process Improvement & Problem Solving:
- Identify and troubleshoot issues for process and manufacturing constraints.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to resolve process deviations and optimize body-in-white production techniques.
- Collaborate with the quality team to ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the production process.
Process Monitoring & Data Analysis:
- Monitor key process variables and collect data related to production efficiency, consistency, and quality.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for process optimization.
- Work with the quality control team to track the effectiveness of process improvements.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to define specifications and ensure adherence to process standards.
- Provide technical support to production teams to ensure smooth operations and troubleshooting of process-related challenges.
- Coordinate with suppliers to address technical issues related to ensure that materials/process meet specifications.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of process changes, experiments, and troubleshooting activities.
- Prepare reports on process performance, improvements, and any corrective actions taken.
- Ensure that all process documentation complies with company and regulatory standards.
Training & Knowledge Sharing:
- Train production and quality teams on new process improvements, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices.
- Provide process improvements to continuously improve overall production efficiency.
Safety & Compliance:
- Develop and implement procedures to minimize plant waste.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
- This role requires full time in-office attendance, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
- Travel: Domestic and international travel required, approximately 10-40 % of the time. Valid driver's license required. Passport required.

- 5-7+ years of professional experience in automotive production and quality control concepts or a related field, including hands-on experience with body-in-white production and processes. Proven experience with VDA standards is essential.
- Bachelor's degree in automotive technology, quality OR 10 years of related technical field experience.
- Minimum of high school diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.
- Desired experience on launching greenfield or brownfield plant.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive processes, products, and materials, including familiarity with relevant tools, equipment, and best practices in the body-in-white processes.
- Strong understanding of VDA standards and their application in the automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of process auditing techniques and methodologies.
- Excellent writing skills for developing clear and comprehensive quality standards and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong self-responsibility, planning, and organizational skills, able to perform multi-tasks within set time frames, and strong time management and organizational skills.
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems and mechanical assembly techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 10-40% of the time.
- Valid driver's license required.
