Patient Population & Unit Details:
Adults with embolic & hemorrhagic strokes, seizures (epileptic & non-epileptic), neurosurgical cases including shunt revisions, tumor removals & craniotomies/cranioplasties. Heparin is the sole IV drip. Stroke care follows AHA guidelines for Comprehensive Stroke Center designation.

Summary of

Required Skills:

Clinicians must be proficient in starting IVs, accessing ports, managing PICC & central lines, peripheral IV care, & blood product administration. Respiratory skills include HFNC, nasal cannula, and trach management. Cardiac monitoring requires telemetry (remote), dysrhythmia interpretation and management and Rapid Response Team use. Neuro experience must cover CVA, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, & pre/post neurosurgery.

Additional requirements:

feeding tube care, PCA & heparin protocols, continuous bladder irrigation, isolation precautions, & surgical drain management.

Floating:
While Prisma Health prioritizes keeping staff in their home unit, agency staff are required to float to other units or campuses as needed. Floating is limited to areas where staff are qualified and have documented competencies.

Charting: 1 yr of EPIC experience required
