Controller, Management, Accounting Manager

Description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead and oversee financial operations with our client's organization based in Columbia, South Carolina. This role involves managing a team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and expertise in accounting and GAAP principles.

Responsibilities:

- Supervise the accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations.

- Oversee the month-end closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial records.

- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with regulations.

- Prepare and review monthly financial statements to provide insights into organizational performance.

- Maintain compliance with US GAAP standards and ensure proper documentation of financial activities.

- Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.

- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team to foster growth and attention to detail

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in accounting with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally a CPA or CMA

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

- Experience with accounting software.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP and US GAAP standards.

- Strong background in supervising teams and managing operations.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team effectively.

- Knowledge of month-end closing procedures and financial statement preparation.

- Proficiency in preparing and analyzing monthly and annual financial statements.

- Ability to communicate effectively with ownership groups and stakeholders.

- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
