Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Trauma/Telemetry Nurse – South Carolina
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 36 hours per week, 6 weekend shifts per every 6-week schedule. Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed.
Highlights:
- 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit specializing in surgical trauma patients
- Care for adult and geriatric patients with traumatic injuries including gunshot wounds, motor vehicle crashes, assaults, and falls
- Telemetry monitoring capability for up to 14 patients; hemodynamically stable patient population
- Epic EMR system with 1+ year experience required
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
- Pre-assignment modules are reimbursable (up to 16 hours)
Requirements:
- Active RN license eligible for South Carolina
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, NIHSS, and Telemetry
- Minimum 1+ year of recent progressive care or telemetry experience; 2+ years preferred for first-time travelers
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
- Medication testing required
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions); COVID-19 vaccination not required
- Must reside 50+ miles from facility (compensation adjustments apply based on distance)
Key Clinical Skills:
- Telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Trauma care including orthopedic trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and craniotomy patients
- Central line, PICC line, and peripheral line management
- Blood product administration and heparin protocols
- Chest tube management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac
- BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
- PCA pump management and feeding tube care
- Phlebotomy and IV insertion/maintenance
