Research Specialist - Nancollas Lab

Position DescriptionThe primary responsibilities of this position are to conduct laboratory analyses, maintain laboratory organization and safety, and support day-to-day research operations. The successful candidate will perform biological and physiological laboratory assays; process and organize biological samples; maintain laboratory equipment and supplies; manage chemical inventories and safety documentation; coordinate laboratory inspections and compliance activities; organize research data and laboratory records; and assist with the supervision and management of undergraduate research volunteers.
In addition to laboratory responsibilities, the laboratory technician will assist with the operation and maintenance of aquatic mesocosm systems, routine aquatic animal husbandry, water quality monitoring, and field and laboratory experiments.
• Bachelor's degree in biology, marine science, environmental science, physiology, or a related field.
• Experience performing standard laboratory techniques and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to work proactively, identify tasks and laboratory needs, and take initiative with minimal supervision.
