Position: Sergeant - Prisma (#017146) Hospital Security Team, Columbia (RICHLAND)
Job Responsibilities

* Monitor, supervise and direct subordinate staff to ensure proper security, safety and control of all inmates at Palmetto Health Richland Medical Center.

* Ensure proper security staffing for inmate supervision as per SCDC and PHR policies and procedures.

* Evaluate officer's duty performance; instruct/counsel as needed.

* Make security, safety and sanitation inspections of all PHR buildings, grounds, and SCDC vehicles and correct or reports shortcomings/deficiencies.

* Arbitrate inmate disputes, investigate complaints and refer to appropriate staff members as required.

* Supervise and verifies accuracy of scheduled formal counts and makes informal counts when required.

* Conduct inventories and inspections of all weapons, restraints, security equipment and keys to ensure proper function/accountability.

* Assist in special investigations and make recommendations to supervisor.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

SCDC

Minimum Requirements:

* A high school diploma and two years experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, one (1) year of which must be in a medium/maximum setting.

* Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
