The Construction Loan Manager is responsible for overseeing the bank’s construction and development loan portfolio, ensuring sound underwriting, effective risk management, and strong borrower relationships. This role manages all aspects of construction lending, including loan structuring, underwriting oversight, project monitoring, and compliance with regulatory and internal credit standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee construction and development loan portfolio.
  • Supervise construction draws, inspections, and disbursements.
  • Provide guidance to the credit analysts on construction loan requests; oversee underwriting including feasibility, budgets, and borrower strength.
  • Meet with lending staff and borrower to set upfront expectations as to the structure of the request, the construction underwriting requirements, post approval closing requirements, and ongoing draw process.
  • Monitor loan performance and identify emerging risks.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to internal policies.
  • Assist in other Credit Administration tasks as needed.

  • To maintain the confidentiality of customer and any other sensitive information.
  • To provide friendly, professional and accurate service and support to all customers and employees.
  • To acquire and maintain a working knowledge of regulations and bank procedures; to comply with the provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and other laws and regulations.
  • To complete required training and undertake additional training as needed to increase job knowledge and maximize productivity.
  • To develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with department/branch staff.
  • Knowledge and Skills Experience

    Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.

    Education

    (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

    Interpersonal Skills

    Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

    Other Skills
    • Experience in underwriting and portfolio management.
    • Strong knowledge of construction lending practices.
    • Understanding of regulatory and credit risk standards.
    • Experience working directly with borrowers throughout the construction loan process.
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    Physical Requirements

    The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or customers and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer. The position could require occasional travel for construction management. This job operates in a professional office environment.

    This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines.
