Senior Concrete Finisher / Crew Lead (10+ Years Experience)

Company: KCS Concrete, LLC

Location: Southeast USA

Job Type: Full-time

ABOUT THE POSITION

KCS Concrete is seeking a highly skilled, hands‑on Concrete Finisher with a minimum of 10 years of experience in residential concrete construction. This is not an entry‑level finishing position. We are looking for a professional who can take ownership of a project from site preparation through final finish while maintaining exceptional quality, productivity, and safety standards.

The ideal candidate can read plans, manage schedules, prepare grades, lead and allocate crews, coordinate pours, operate equipment, place and finish concrete, and consistently deliver high‑quality results under demanding schedules and conditions. In other words, the person everyone else calls when the pour gets complicated.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Perform site layout, grade verification, and preparation activities
  • Set forms, verify elevations, and ensure proper reinforcement placement
  • Coordinate and execute concrete placement operations
  • Operate laser levels, screeds, power trowels, saws, and finishing equipment
  • Perform all aspects of concrete finishing, including broom finishes, hand‑trowel finishes, decorative finishes, curbs and sidewalks, slabs‑on‑grade, and structural concrete
  • Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule or quality
  • Lead and mentor crew members while maintaining production goals
  • Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements and company standards
  • Work extended hours and weekends as required by project schedules and weather conditions
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of hands‑on residential concrete finishing experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading crews on residential concrete projects
  • Proven ability to independently manage site preparation, placement, and finishing activities with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of concrete mix designs, curing methods, and finishing techniques
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute work from construction drawings, specifications, grading plans, and layout documents
  • Ability to establish and maintain grades, verify elevations, and ensure compliance with project tolerances
  • Demonstrated ability to identify plan discrepancies, grade conflicts, and field issues before concrete placement
  • Experience operating power trowels, screeds, saws, vibratory equipment, and other finishing and placement tools
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment screening
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with large‑scale residential concrete projects
  • Experience with PT (post‑tension) projects
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Equipment operation experience (skid steer, mini excavator, trowel machines, etc.)
  • Experience managing multi‑day and high‑volume concrete pours
  • Ability to train and develop less experienced finishers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift and carry 75+ pounds regularly
  • Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and varying site conditions
  • Stand, kneel, bend, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods
  • Ability to work long shifts during major pours
WHAT SEPARATES SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES
  • The successful candidate:
  • Doesn’t need constant supervision
  • Can identify problems before they become expensive
  • Understands production, quality, and schedule pressures
  • Takes pride in clean, professional work
  • Leads by example rather than by volume
  • Has a reputation for being the person contractors request by name
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance offered
  • Supplemental policies offered: long‑term disability, short‑term disability, life insurance, critical illness, and accident coverage
  • 401(k) and Roth 401(k) offered
  • Performance‑based bonuses for exceptional project execution
  • Paid time off and sick time
APPLICATION NOTE

This position is intended for experienced concrete professionals only. Candidates without significant hands‑on finishing experience managing residential concrete work from site preparation through final finish will not be considered.

We’re looking for the person who can walk onto a site at 5:00 AM, spot three problems before anyone else notices them, and still leave behind a slab that looks like glass.
