Location: Columbus, GA (Onsite / Hybrid as applicable)
Reports to: Controller / Director of Finance
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position OverviewThe Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This role partners closely with operations, AP/AR, and leadership to deliver timely, accurate financial reporting and analysis.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, growing environment.
Key Responsibilities Month-End & Financial Close- Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, depreciation, allocations)
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances
- Support timely month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements
- Analyze P&L and balance sheet fluctuations
- Support budget vs. actual and trend analysis
- Prepare supporting schedules for management and auditors
- Partner with operations to ensure accurate inventory and cost accounting
- Assist with inventory reconciliations and cycle count variance analysis
- Support standard costing and COGS accuracy (as applicable)
- Assist with external audit requests and documentation
- Support SOX/internal control processes (if applicable)
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails
- Identify opportunities to improve close efficiency and accuracy
- Support system enhancements, reporting automation, and documentation
- Assist with accounting process standardization as the business scales
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, analysis)
- ERP experience (SAP, Net Suite, Oracle, Epicor, or similar)
- Inventory and cost accounting exposure
- Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional firm)
- CPA or CPA-eligible (not required)
- Experience in PE-backed or fast-growth companies
