Primary Function

The job of Receptionist is done for the purpose/s of greeting and directing visitors, responding to inquiries from staff, the public, parents, students, etc., by providing requested information and/or referral to other parties.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Educational Level: High School Diploma/GED
  • Requirement: Additional testing for selected candidates may be requested.
  • Experience: Minimum one year of experience or equivalent technical/business certificate
  • Physical

    Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; adapts to changing work priorities; ability to problem solve;
    Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  • Answers telephone system for the purpose of screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries and/or taking messages.
  • Assists with other department projects (e.g. production of documents, fingerprinting assistance, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the efficient functioning of the work unit.
  • Greets individuals entering the building or floor (e.g. visitors, parents, students, vendors; maintains daily meeting/event schedule to direct participants, etc.) for the purpose of responding to inquiries; and/or directing individuals to appropriate location in accordance with established building security procedures.
  • Maintains reception area materials (e.g. signs, handout sheets, etc.) for the purpose of providing resource information to visitors and the public.
  • Maintains visitor information (e.g. visitor log, passes, etc.) for the purpose of meeting building security requirements.
  • Assists with general clerical duties (e.g. envelopes, labels; distributing materials, as requested, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring implementation of department processes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
