Job SummaryResponsible for successful execution of the construction and start‑up of the project, providing leadership to the project staff, directing daily/weekly planning, and serving as the representative for Black & Veatch in all interactions with the Owner. Implements standards and procedures, devotes resources, and makes decisions supporting project strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Update and complete the Construction Execution Plan, reviewing and refining the plan as the project progresses.
- Direct overall construction effort including coordination of erection activities, suppliers, direct hire labor, subcontractors, startup and testing activities, and the owner.
- Manage overall construction and startup costs to meet established budgets.
- Review, analyze, and report monthly on project construction budget, schedule, and quality performance and take appropriate action to return the project to plan.
- Direct implementation of established project controls processes and procedures.
- Establish and maintain high‑level trust and credibility with clients, owners, alliance partners, craft labor, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Lead the site management team.
- Direct implementation of construction management procedures.
- Direct implementation of project construction Safety & Health and Loss Control procedures and ensure that the project meets agreed safety targets.
- Direct implementation of project quality assurance procedures and ensure that the established level of quality is achieved.
- Direct implementation of project commissioning and testing plan and ensure that the necessary resources are provided.
- Direct implementation of site materials management procedures.
- Approve field purchases, equipment rentals, extra work authorizations, subcontractor progress and final payments, B&V professional time sheets, and B&V professional expense reimbursements.
- Direct change order management for subcontracts and coordinate with the project manager for change orders with the owner.
- Direct the resolution of all back charges, collection of conformed‑to‑construction records, and other contract closeout activities.
- Establish site staffing needs and coordinate with Project Manager and construction department to staff the site office.
- Mentor site staff, promote internal and external team building, and maintain morale.
- Adhere to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs.
- Produce and implement site‑specific procedures as required, identifying and assessing improvement opportunities.
- Champion implementation of LEAN concepts and continuous improvement efforts.
- Support, encourage, and facilitate staff engagement in continuous improvement activities.
- Act as project manager with responsibilities for the management of a multi‑discipline project team.
- Conduct monthly contractor management meetings and participate in weekly contractor and site coordination meetings.
- Direct collection of conformed‑to‑construction records and other contract closeout activities.
- 10+ years of experience on similar projects in conventional generation construction management with a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years as a Site Manager.
- 15+ years of experience with 5+ years in a construction management role on similar projects or 3 years as a Site Manager.
- Experience with Simple Cycle and Combined Cycle construction.
- Experience with Self‑Perform/Direct Hire Construction.
- 5+ years of experience on similar projects in construction management with a Bachelor’s degree.
- 8+ years of experience with 3 years at superintendent level or above on large projects, or in construction management on smaller projects without a Bachelor’s degree.
