The Department of Theatre and Dance seeks a ten‑month Assistant Professor, tenure‑track, in costume design and technology to commence in August 2026. The position teaches in the BFA Design and Technology programs and provides costume, makeup, and hair design support for departmental productions.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in costume design, periods of design, introduction to theatre, costume history, construction, crafts, dyeing, and makeup.
- Demonstrate experience in hand and digital rendering techniques across platforms; design experience for dance valued.
- Actively participate in departmental service, recruitment, ongoing research/creative scholarship, and professional accomplishments.
- MFA in costume design or related field by appointment.
- Record of professional creative practice and/or academic scholarship at regional, national, or international levels.
- Strong costume technology and crafts skills.
- Commitment to liberal arts education and collaborative learning.
- Developing or established record of creative or scholarly work appropriate for a tenure‑track position.
- Design experience for dance.
- Engaged and accomplished undergraduate teaching experience.
- Makeup design experience.
- Costume design experience in non‑theatrical contexts such as film or television.
- Experience with sustainable materials and resources for costume design.
- Successful student mentorship record.
