REPORTS TO: Principal

This posting is to recruit for existing vacancies and/or positions that become available at our various schools.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assists in the instructional program, using ESOL strategies, which enables students to communicate, appreciate cultural diversity, and acquire necessary academic skills and concepts.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Educational Level: Bachelor Degree in job related field
• Certification/License:
  Valid Georgia Teacher certification or eligibility for GA certification in ESOL or ESOL Endorsement with appropriate content certification;

• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  Written and oral communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners; student management

• Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
• Administers tests and language assessments to evaluate students' language ability.
• Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress, student's achievements, methods for improvement, and reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
• Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources to improve the overall quality of student outcomes.
• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Instructs English Language Learner students to improve their success in academics and skills.
• Communicates with parents in all aspects of their child's English Language Services.
• Completes designated procedures for students referred for ESOL service.
• Compiles, maintains, and submits all required records.
• Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Models English communication to develop student ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
• Provides class and small group instruction to present grade and content appropriate curriculum.
• Reports incidents such as fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc. to maintain personal safety of students and provide a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
