Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as an adjunct instructor for math. The instructor will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction, evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives, academically advise students, and attend faculty development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences as needed. The position requires day and evening instruction and is part‑time/exempt.
- May be required to teach high school students
- May require occasional weekends
- May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
- May require travel
- Organizes and conducts classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities
- Ensures adherence to technical college safety requirements in classrooms by following established procedures
- Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
- Follows state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives
- Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate coursework
- Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward students
- Demonstrates current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas to be taught
- Communicates students’ progress to students and appropriate personnel according to established guidelines
- Accurately records pertinent information in students’ records as required
- Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports and submits in a timely manner
- Shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures
- Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late or when absent; uses work time appropriately
- Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature
- Exhibits effective written and oral communication
- Has general computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products)
- Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Columbus Technical College
- A Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Mathematics
- OR – A Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a concentration of a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Mathematics
- Experience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems
- Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
