OverviewAs the district’s lead content‑specific instructional expert, the Instructional Specialist for Secondary Mathematics supports the implementation of the Georgia curriculum standards, instructional frameworks, and the district strategic plan across MCSD schools. The role provides leadership, vision, and professional development for teachers, coaches, and administrators and collaborates with school and district stakeholders to improve student outcomes.

Primary ResponsibilitiesKey duties include:
- Leading planning, implementation, review, and evaluation of the district’s curriculum and instructional services for grades 6‑12.
- Designing and delivering high‑quality professional development on content‑specific instructional frameworks, resources, assessment, and intervention strategies.
- Collecting, analyzing, synthesizing, and reporting instructional and student performance data.
- Designing and maintaining a coherent local system of content‑specific assessments and universal screeners.
- Managing instructional resources, programs, and budgets; coordinating district‑wide academic competitions and student recognition events.
- Supporting the responsible integration of AI tools and emerging educational technology into instruction.
- Providing coaching, consultation, and model lessons to deepen classroom practice and support student academic transitions.
- Coordinating assessment and intervention programs and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Collaborating with information services, purchasing, operations, and external partners to acquire and sustain instructional materials and technology.
- Monitoring and reporting on regulatory compliance, budget accountability, and data‑driven decision making.
- Contributing to the district’s strategic and school improvement plans and professional development communities.
- Master’s degree in Mathematics Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate or Service Certificate at Level 5 or higher. An Education Specialist degree or higher is preferred.
- Minimum five years of classroom teaching experience with a strong emphasis on mathematics instruction.
- At least two years of experience in instructional coaching, teacher leadership, or a district/school‑level curriculum role.
- Experience designing and delivering professional learning for adult learners, administering and analyzing assessments, and making data‑driven decisions.
- Experience supporting Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and evidence‑based intervention programs.
- Experience managing instructional programs, materials, budgets, and vendor relationships.
Required proficiency includes:
- Curriculum design, monitoring, and evaluation; writing student learning outcomes.
- Research and evaluation of curriculum standards, instructional materials, and AI integration.
- Professional learning facilitation, strong written and oral communication, and project management.
- Data analysis, visualization, and reporting using tools such as Microsoft 365, data‑visualization software, LMS, and AI platforms.
- Budget development, grant management, and procurement compliance.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Technical proficiency with standard office equipment and software applications.
