Primary Function

The job of Teacher, Graphic Arts was established for the purpose/s of teaching skills needed in print industry careers to students; facilitating student success in academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and by implementing state and district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Requirements

Educational Level: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent required. Community College and/or Vocational School degree in with study in job-related area.

Certification/License:
Job related experience is required.

Experience:

Have at least two (2) years of occupational work experience in the field.

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Written and oral communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners; student management.

Essential Duties

Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.

Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.

Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.

Advices parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals.

Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.

Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.

Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program addressing individual student requirements.

Directs student teachers, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.

Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study.

Maintains the classroom and lab areas for the purpose of meeting state, local and industry standards as required.

Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

Models conversation, manners, clean-up activities, listening skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate industry, social and interpersonal behavior.

Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g., classroom, field trips, conferences…
