Position Details

• Position Title: In School Suspension Technician

• Reports To: Assistant Principal

Position open for existing vacancies or openings at various schools.

The job of an In School Suspension Technician supervises students assigned to In School Suspension and provides assistance with completing educational activities.

• Educational Level: Minimum 60 semester or 100 quarter eligible college hours. The "GACE Paraprofessional Assessment" is not accepted toward meeting the requirements.
• Certification / License: Must maintain Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate, including in‑service training related to the position.

  Routine physical activities required to fulfill job responsibilities.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Written and oral communication; student management.

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Provides appropriate instructional assistance and support for students based on lessons provided by the teacher.
• Coordinates and communicates with classroom teachers in assisting students in the continuation of classroom assignments and/or implementing IEP objectives.
• Evaluates students during the course of the day and makes referrals on students in need of further remediation and/or counseling.
• Interacts with students, individually and/or in groups, to assist them in accepting responsibility for their behavior and for changing behavior.
• Keeps current records on all ISS students and submits accurate paperwork on schedule.
• Assists with discipline record keeping.
• Maintains structure and discipline in the ISS room and directs the conduct of students in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
