Primary Function

The Technology Education Program Specialist is responsible for the strategic leadership, coordination, and implementation of district-wide robotics and emerging technology initiatives. This position oversees all K–12 robotics programs, including FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition. The role ensures program fidelity, alignment to district goals, and high-quality implementation across all participating schools. In addition, the Technology Program Manager administers the Computer Science initiatives, such as the Amazon Future Engineer program, in elementary and middle schools, oversees AI4GA implementation in middle schools, plans and hosts district and regional robotics competitions, and provides direct supervision to assigned instructional staff at the Coca‑Cola Space Science Center.

This position serves as a key liaison between schools, community partners, postsecondary institutions, and industry to expand student access to high-quality STEM, robotics, and artificial intelligence learning experiences.

Requirements

Educational Level: Master’s degree in a job‑related area.

Certifications/Licenses: Valid Georgia certification in Leadership;
Valid driver’s license.

Experience: At least five years of job‑related experience within a specialized field is required; experience with FIRST Robotics program (FLL, FTC, and/or FTC) is preferred; experience managing grants, partnerships, or externally‑funded programs is preferred; supervisory or program management experience is preferred.

Essential Duties

Ensure compliance with FIRST program requirements and provide district‑wide leadership and oversight for all robotics programs: FIRST Lego League Explore, FIRST Lego League Challenge, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition.

Develop, implement, and monitor annual programs of work for robotics coaches and sponsors.

Coordinate registration, purchasing, budgeting, and inventory management for robotics equipment and materials.

Plan, organize, and host district, regional, and invitational robotics competitions and showcases, coordinating venues, volunteers, judges, field setup, schedules, logistics, and safety plans.
